PREVIEW: Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

२०८१, १८ बैशाख मंगलवार १४:४६

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid play the first leg of their Champions League semifinal at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.

The two European heavyweights advanced to the final four thanks to victories over English opponents. Bayern Madrid defeated holders Manchester City on penalties, while Arsenal was defeated by Bayern.

Given that the two grand clubs frequently square off at this point of the competition in the twenty-first century, it is safe to say that they are familiar with one another. This, meanwhile, will be their first confrontations since they faced off in the 2017–18 semifinals, when Madrid prevailed 4–3 on aggregate.

Only a few of players from those duels remain in each side, with the current crop hoping to carve out their own stories in the biggest club competition in Europe. The two teams have a rich history together, having won 20 European Cups and Champions Leagues between them.

After failing to win any domestic title, Bayern’s 2023–24 campaign will depend on how well they do on the continent. Meanwhile, Madrid is cruising to yet another La Liga victory and is the clear favorite to win their 15th European championship.

Bayern Munich team news

Leroy Sane, who has been dealing with a niggle for weeks, should be included in Bayern’s matchday squad on Tuesday even though the team is expected to be without wingers Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman.

Alphonso Davies is back available after serving a suspension in the second leg of their quarterfinal matchup with Arsenal, so Raphael Guerreiro should continue down the left.

Konrad Laimer was subbed off due to injury during Saturday’s Bundesliga home game against Eintracht Frankfurt.

It’s a race against time for Matthijs de Ligt and Konrad Laimer to recover from their injuries over the weekend in time for the first leg. It’s improbable that Dayot Upamecano will appear.

Real Madrid team news

Unlike Bayern, Real Madrid is not as concerned about injuries.

The team under Carlo Ancelotti is fit, although they will be without the reliable Dani Carvajal at right back due to suspension. On Tuesday night, Lucas Vazquez is expected to take his place.

On Friday night against Real Sociedad, Jude Bellingham and Toni Kroos were both rested, but Antonio Rudiger, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Vinicius Junior all had time on the bench.
