1st Budhiganga monsoon football tournament got underway at Budhiganga-5 Hattimuda, Morang on Tuesday.
In the opening match played on Tuesday, Golden Star Youth Club, Bhaluwa, Sunsari defeated Memory Yuwa Club, Sonapur, Susari 2-1 to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Suman Gachhadar scored a brace for the winners. Saroj Hussain scored a consolation goal for Memory.
Gachhadar became the man of the match and received Nrs 500 cash.
Budhiganga Youth Club, Morang will play against Junior Football Club, Inaruwa in the second pre-quarterfinals match on Wednesday.
Chief guest of the opening match was the Chairman of Budhiganga Rural Municipality, Mr. Jeet Narayan Thapa Magar.
12 teams are taking part in the event, which has a winning purse of Nrs 25,000. Runners up team will get Nrs 15,000.
