New Zealand are the first team to announce their squad for June’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup handing the captaincy to experienced batter Kane Williamson.
The leading wicket taker in T20 internationals, Tim Southee makes the 15-player cut alongside his fellow pacer Trent Boult as the Kiwis opt for a rather experienced pace lineup.
Williamson, who will be making his sixth T20 World Cup appearance and fourth as a skipper would be looking to clinch his maiden T20 World Cup after being knocked out in the semi-finals against eventual runner-ups Pakistan.
Meanwhile, in the lesser experienced side of the pendulum Rachin Ravindra makes the squad and would be eyeing to make his first appearance at the T20 World Cup.
The Black Caps will take young pacer Ben Sears to the USA and West Indies as a travelling reserve.
New Zealand who are placed in Group C alongside Afghanistan, co-hosts West Indies, Uganda and Papua New Guinea will take on Afghanistan as their tournament opener in Guyana on June 7.
