The Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF) and the Nepal Swimming Association (NSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the development and promotion of swimming in schools across Nepal. This agreement aims to foster cooperation between the two organizations, providing more structured support and resources for school-level swimming programs.
The MOU contains plans for cooperation events, training programs, and competitions aimed at developing young talent and raising the country’s swimming standards. It is a huge step forward in integrating swimming into the broader school sports framework supervised by the NSSF, which has been actively promoting numerous sports disciplines in Nepalese schools since its foundation.
The MOU aims to encourage and promote the growth of Swimming within the context of school athletes, both nationally and internationally. The agreement will enable NSSF and NSA to work collaboratively towards attracting and engaging school-age swimming enthusiasts and to foster cooperation between local authorities and other agencies within the school sports system.
The MOU encompasses several aspects of integrating Swimming into the school sports ecosystem, Collaborative Initiatives, Promotion of Swimming, Resource Sharing, ISF Event Bidding, Development of Swimming Infrastructure, Tournaments and Competitions, Reporting and Evaluation, Promotion Activities, and Scholarships and Incentives.
The signing ceremony was held at the National Sports Council (NSC), Nepal’s highest sports authority, and was attended by several dignitaries, including NSSF Chairman Mr. Binod Shrestha, National Sports Council Board Member and NSA President Mr. Jagat Man Shrestha, and NSSF Secretary General Mr. Raj Kumar Karki, who is also a member of the ISF Executive Committee. Mr. Sobin Raj Regmee, Secretary of the NSSF, Mr. Ishor Karki, Secretary General of the NSA, and Mr. Ganga Lal Gole, Secretary of the NSA, were also present. This MOU signifies a new stage of cooperation between NSA and NSSF in promoting Swimming in education.
