Nepal announce their 15-man squad with young Rohit Paudel captaining the side.

Nepal, who return back to the global stage after 10 long years after finishing as runner-ups in the Asia region qualifiers have opted for a rather young squad than the rest of the teams.

Key pacer, Sompal Kami who featured in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 has been integral in Nepal’s pace bowling attack ever since makes the cut alongside his experienced partner Karan KC. Whilst, Kamal Singh Airee also makes the squad following an impressive comeback after an injury that had ruled him out for an year or so alongside their death-over specialist Abinash Bohara. Young left-arm pacer Pratish GC has been included in the squad too.

Nepal have trusted their main openers Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel as both them retain their spots in the squad following a poor run of form for the latter one. Anil Shah who has been ever present in the circuit for the past few months makes the squad most probably as a backup wicket-keeper/opening batsman over experienced Binod Bhandari. Sundeep Jora completes the squad as the proper recognized batter.

With the team full of all-rounders, Dipendra Singh Airee, man of records books his ticket alongside youngsters Kushal Malla and Gulshan Jha who can bowl as effectively as the main bowlers in the team.

Arguably Nepal’s best spinner over the last 5 years Sandeep Lamichhane doesn’t return to the squad due to his on-going case but Lalit Rajbanshi, currently Nepal’s prime spinner makes the squad alongside Sagar Dhakal.
