England, who would be looking to defend their T20 World Cup title have named their provisional squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Jofra Archer, who hasn’t played for an international team in a year, has been called up to the England side for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

He last played for England in May of 2023. Since then, he has been recovering from an elbow injury that kept him out of commission for about a year.

Archer’s road back hasn’t been simple; since 2021, he’s faced a number of challenges, such as stress fractures, ongoing elbow issues, and even surgery following a bizarre fish tank mishap.

Experienced all-rounder Chris Jordan, whose last international appearance was in September 2023, also locked up a berth in the team despite his recent absence from the England lineup.

Jos Buttler will lead the team that is defending the title among hitters, with Will Jacks, Phil Salt, and Jonny Bairstow competing for the top spot. Ben Duckett and seasoned all-rounder Moeen Ali will provide some versatility to the team from the left side.

The team’s lower-order firepower will come from Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, and Sam Curran, while Adil Rashid will spearhead the spin attack with Tom Hartley on his flank.

England squad: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, Mark Wood.
