Sri Lanka who are the current champions of the T20 Asia Cup will be led by Wanindu Hasaranga.
Hasaranga will captain Sri Lanka in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States. He was selected the team’s captain in December of last year. His deputy will be Charith Asalanka, a middle-order hitter.
After being out for almost three years, veteran Angelo Mathews returned to the T20I setup earlier this year in January. Sri Lanka has relied on his experience. This will be Mathews’ sixth appearance in the T20 World Cup; in 2014, he was a part of Sri Lanka’s winning team.
